Water Filtration, Softening Systems, AND REVERSE OSMOSIS

image4

We install and maintain Water Filtration, Softening Systems, and Reverse Osmosis Systems.

We use water for everything. Drinking, cooking, bathing… and much more. It’s easy to forget how important it is in our life. Although water is in the ground, it is constantly picking up soluble bits. This can be a form of contamination, or just minerals throughout the earth.

Water Filtration

"A water filter removes impurities by lowering contamination of water using a fine physical barrier, a chemical process, or a biological process. Filters cleanse water to different extents for purposes such as providing agricultural irrigation, accessible drinking water, public and private aquaria, and the safe use of ponds and swimming pools." -Wikipedia

If you think there’s a problem with your water or if you have a filtration system that needs attention and servicing, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can handle all of your water supply issues and filtration needs!

Water Softening

Calcium and Magnesium are two minerals that are found in our water and can actually hinder the way it functions in our homes. These two minerals make our water “hard”.

One effect of hard water is when it makes it hard to wash the soap off our hands or body. Instead of dissolving, the soap combines with these minerals and becomes coagulated soap. Because the soap didn’t dissolve properly, it then begins to stick to things like the shower walls, or inside the sink causing soap scum to build up. It even effects our hair making it more dull from the particles left behind.  These particles can also build up on your pipes reducing the flow in pipes and taps. Luckily, there’s an easy fix.

The typical water softener is a mechanical appliance that’s  added to the plumbing in your home’s water supply system. All water softeners use the same operating principle: They trade the minerals for something else and in most cases it's sodium. The process is called ion exchange. The heart of a water softener is a mineral tank. It’s filled with small polystyrene beads, also known as resin or zeolite. The beads carry a negative charge; because Calcium and Magnesium are positive charges the minerals will cling to the beads as the hard water passes through the mineral tank therefore eliminating the “hard” water.

Reverse Osmosis System

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that uses a partially permeable membrane to remove ions, unwanted molecules, and larger particles from drinking water.   Reverse osmosis differs from filtration in that the mechanism of fluid flow is by osmosis across a membrane. The predominant removal mechanism in membrane filtration is straining, or size exclusion, where the pores are 0.01 micrometers or larger, so the process can theoretically achieve perfect efficiency regardless of parameters such as the solution's pressure and concentration.

Reverse osmosis instead involves solvent diffusion across a membrane that is either nonporous or uses nano filtration with pores 0.001 micrometers in size.   The predominant removal mechanism is from differences in solubility or diffusivity, and the process is dependent on pressure, solute concentration, and other conditions.

Reverse osmosis is most commonly known for its use in drinking water purification from seawater, removing the salt and other effluent materials from the water molecules. - Wikipedia
